Kicking off 2025 strong, we have launched the NORT GS Mini and Piston Bio, two innovative lighting solutions with a compact design that pushes the boundaries of retail lighting development.

These products exceed the standards set by their aluminium counterparts, outperforming in both sustainability and technical excellence.

Resourcefulness embedded in our DNA

When first introduced, the NORT GS and Colt Bio established a new benchmark for sustainable lighting products. Our latest innovations, the NORT GS Mini and Piston Bio, elevate sustainable luminaire design even further. These advancements feature faster print times, reduced biopolymer usage, and notably, less than half the aluminium content. Together, these improvements significantly reduce the environmental impact of our products.

Developed in partnership with Hexa³ ®, the NORT GS Mini and Piston Bio use a single ‘light engine’. These products share the same heatsink, lamp holder, LED COB, and reflectors or lenses.

By embracing a resourceful and efficient design approach, we gain a competitive edge through standardised and versatile products, resulting in significant environmental benefits at every stage of our production process.

Driving innovation in materials and application

The NORT GS Mini and Piston Bio are the first products in our sustainable biopolymer range to launch with reflectors and lenses. The Reflector LE and Lens LQ allow retailers to dial up efficiency or light quality depending on their needs.

Though not limited to lighting smaller spaces, the NORT GS Mini and Piston Bio have been specifically designed to be less obtrusive, than earlier models. Moving away from traditionally overengineered and oversized lighting, they offer flexibility and finesse together with elegance and unmatched efficiency.

NORT GS Mini

The NORT GS Mini is a transformative, modern, and efficient solution with a smaller in-track driver, which frees up more space on the track for additional fixtures or accessories. The compact design makes it a versatile and efficient lighting solution for retail environments with limited track space.

With 350 degrees of rotation and 90 degrees of angle adjustment, the NORT GS Mini can be precisely positioned to highlight specific areas or products, ensuring optimal illumination and visual appeal.

About 30% smaller than our popular track-mounted adjustable spotlight, NORT GS, the Mini retains the same high-quality performance in a more compact form.

Piston Bio

The Piston Bio, a compact yet powerful recessed downlight, offers a sleek and refined version of our Colt Bio. It suits fitting rooms and ceilings with small void spaces, allowing clusters of light for visual effect.

Furthermore, the Piston Bio is engineered for a seamless fit with a standard 67mm core drill cut-out, making installation straightforward. It comes with customisable outer bezels so brands can effortlessly and cost-effectively adapt to existing ceiling cut-outs up to 100mm.

Thermal architecture

Designed with a single optimised thermal architecture that supports up to 14W of power ensures efficient heat management that helps to prolong product lifespan and maintain consistent performance.

Both products are smaller than our existing biopolymer products. Their sleek and contemporary design will add a touch of modern elegance to any retail space.

Circular and modular design

Piston Bio and NORT GS Mini both feature a modular design that facilitates easy servicing and upgrades which keeps them in use for longer and reduces environmental impact. Using biopolymer materials for 3D printing, 71% of the NORT GS Mini and 65% of the Piston Bio are reusable or recyclable at the end of their life. Customers can return them through our Buy Back Scheme.

On/off, Casambi and DALI variants

Both are available with on/off, Casambi, or DALI variants, offering flexibility in control options, simple on/off functionality or advanced smart lighting control.
