As Shoplight turns 10 we’re celebrating a decade of growth since Founders, Mark and Mel Shortland, set up Shoplight as an alternative to multinational lighting suppliers.
Shoplight has become a brand synonymous with delivering exceptional service. The retail landscape is evolving fast and today our clients face increasing sustainability challenges. We’re honoured to be well-positioned to help brands transition to more environmentally friendly retail lighting – a change that is better for our clients and the planet.
Over the years our team has grown, and today we’re a strong group of twenty-five, and every member of the team contributes to our forward-thinking, innovative approach to retail lighting.
New Roles and Responsibilities set Shoplight up for Another Successful Decade
In a significant development for Shoplight, Mark Shortland, our current Managing Director has taken the decision to change roles. Mark remains completely committed to Shoplight and will continue working in the business full-time, focusing his attention on customers, future business strategy, innovation and product development.
Mark Shortland said, “I’ve never been more excited about the company’s future. With our move into manufacturing of biopolymer retail lighting my role will change so that I can work closer with customers, where I’ll continue to account manage and develop new business alongside our sales team. I will also work on the future strategy of the business including new service initiatives and most exciting of all, continue developing and launching new more sustainable 3D printed biopolymer retail lighting products alongside our product development team.”
Shoplight’s current Operations Director, Andrea Mulqueen, will take up the position of Managing Director. With her extensive experience in operations, Andrea is well-suited to leading the company with efficiency and effectiveness as we roll out the exciting plans we have for the future.
A Strong Leadership Team
Incoming Managing Director, Andrea Mulqueen will be supported by Mark and the wider leadership team, Director, Mel Shortland; Sales Director, Matt Carrington; and Marketing Director, Sara Drawwater.
Andrea said, “Since I joined the business at the start of 2023, we have had an amazing journey. Our move into manufacturing and our ever-increasing focus on sustainability have created fantastic opportunities for us. Mark and Mel have built a wonderful company with a clear vision and strategy, and a determination to benefit people, communities, and the planet. This is especially evident through our B Corp certification. Their ongoing efforts, including our development of UK made 3D printed biopolymers and an unwavering commitment to providing the best customer service, make me proud to be taking up the position of Managing Director. I am excited to support the team in delivering on these initiatives and further developing our plans. I want to thank Mark and Mel for trusting me to help guide the business into the future, alongside the fantastic team we have here at Shoplight.”
Shoplight now has a leadership team that brings fresh perspectives and skills to the table – contributions that help our operations be more professional while maintaining our core values which we believe will guide us toward continued success. We’re excited about the opportunities ahead as we continue to work with our valued retail clients and as we build relationships with new brands.
