In 2022, we became the UK’s first retail lighting Certified B Corporation. We have embedded the B Corp standards within our ethos and values, thoughtfully designing everything we do to be a force for good. This includes our governance, community work and our commitment to the environment.
People
Our people matter to us, which is why we have initiatives such as profit-sharing and emergency loan schemes. We are also members of the Living Wage Foundation.
We encourage all kinds of training and personal development. Recent programmes have included Lighting Design, First Aid, Mental Health, Health and Safety, as well as our participation in Graduate Schemes.
Together we carry out impactful work day-to-day within a friendly and vibrant working environment.
Community
To support our local community, we have committed to 50 paid volunteering days a year. Our charity fund-matching scheme means the charities we support gain maximum benefit from their association with us.
We’re proud to give a minimum of 2% of our annual profits to charitable organisations. Through volunteering, fundraising and donations, we have supported charities like Embrace Child Victims of Crime, St Giles Hospice, and Cancer Research UK. We also have strong connections with local schools, supporting future generations with work experience, mock interviews, careers days and school project support.
Environment
The future of our business, and indeed the planet, rests on us being able to manufacture more sustainable products that shouldn’t be committed to landfill in 5, 6 or 7 years. Instead, they should be circular so we can put them back to use, creating less damage for every product sold.
We have opened a new facility dedicated to manufacturing here in the UK which significantly reduces the carbon footprint of importing goods from the Far East.
We encourage our team to participate in sustainability initiatives which foster a culture of environmental responsibility within the organisation.
